Cholera vaccination in Oldham

Who needs the cholera vaccine?
Cholera vaccination is mainly aimed at higher-risk travellers rather than the typical tourist. That includes aid and disaster relief workers, volunteers, and people heading to remote areas with poor sanitation or limited clean water, particularly where there is a known outbreak. It is also sometimes chosen because it offers a degree of protection against certain types of travellers' diarrhoea. If your trip falls into one of these categories, or you simply want to talk through whether it is worthwhile, we are happy to advise.
The cholera course and schedule
The cholera vaccine is oral, so there is no injection. Adults and children from 6 years need two doses taken between one and six weeks apart, while younger children aged 2 to 6 need three doses. The doses need to be completed at least a week before you travel, so plan to start in good time. Each dose is taken with a drink, and we will explain exactly how and when to take them.
